Humpback
As the blown spray fades
above its dorsal fin
a humpback slips back
beneath the surface
and you send with it
a sifting place,
a lonely piece,
one that turns always
into the wind
while you hold
with both hands
to that perfect story,
reminding you that
to know
your own course
means believing in
what opens
as it dives
through the dark
curtaining
and receives
what plays around us
in the
teeming.
